Most app problems disappear after closing the app or restarting the device. When they do not, reinstalling the player app is the next logical step. It replaces every app file with a fresh copy, which clears out damaged data, leftover settings and anything an interrupted update may have broken.
This guide explains when reinstalling makes sense and gives the steps for each platform in our setup instructions: Android, iPhone and iPad, Apple TV and Windows.
Restart, Clear or Reinstall?
Think of these as three levels of reset, from lightest to heaviest:
- Restart: close the app and restart the device. Try this first for any glitch.
- Clear cache: on Android, removes temporary files while keeping your login.
- Reinstall: removes the app and everything it saved, then puts back a clean copy.
Reinstall when the lighter steps did not help, when the app crashes repeatedly, or when it behaves strangely after an update.
Before You Start
- Find your subscription email; you will need your Username, Password and Server URL again.
- Make sure you can sign in to the app store on the device.
- Connect to Wi-Fi or a wired network so the download goes smoothly.
- Note any favorites you want to rebuild, since they may not survive the reinstall.
Android Phones, Tablets and TV Boxes
- Open Settings, then Apps, and select IBO Player Pro or TiviMate.
- Choose Uninstall and confirm.
- Restart the device.
- Open Google Play, search for the same app and install it.
- Open it and sign in with the Xtream Codes details from your email.
Before uninstalling on Android, it is worth trying the lighter fix in our guide to clearing an app cache on Android.
iPhone and iPad
- Touch and hold the IBO Player Pro icon.
- Tap Remove App, then Delete App, and confirm.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad.
- Open the App Store, find IBO Player Pro and download it again.
- Open the app, tap ADD USER and enter your details.
iOS also offers a gentler option called offloading, explained in our guide for when an IPTV app is not working on iPhone or iPad.
Apple TV
- On the home screen, highlight IBO Player Pro.
- Press and hold the clickpad or touch surface until the options appear, then choose Delete App.
- Restart the Apple TV from Settings > System > Restart.
- Open the App Store on the Apple TV and install IBO Player Pro again.
- Select ADD USER, enter your details, then select Live TV to sync.
Windows PC or Laptop
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find IBO Player Pro, open its menu and choose Uninstall.
- Restart the PC.
- Download the installer again from the developer’s official website only.
- Install it, open the app and sign in with the Xtream Codes API details.
If you are unsure which website is the official one, check with our support team before downloading.
Mistakes to Avoid When Reinstalling
- Downloading the app from a different source than before; stick to Google Play, the App Store or, on Windows, the developer’s official website.
- Installing a look-alike app with a similar name; check the developer and listing carefully.
- Skipping the restart between removing and reinstalling, which can leave old files in memory.
- Typing the login from memory instead of copying it from your subscription email.
- Uninstalling the app while an update for it is still downloading.
Signs a Reinstall Is the Right Call
Reinstalling is most useful when the problem clearly belongs to the app on one device. If the same app works on a second device in your home with the same login, while it keeps failing on the first, a fresh copy on the failing device is a sensible next step. If it fails everywhere at once, the cause is probably your network or the service, and reinstalling is unlikely to help.
An app that started misbehaving right after an update, crashes at the same point every time, or shows menus that look broken or half loaded is a strong candidate for a clean install.
After Reinstalling
Give the app time to load your full list the first time, and resist the urge to back out while it works. Then rebuild your favorites and check any app settings you had changed before. If the original problem has gone, you are done.
Troubleshooting a Reinstall
The App Store Will Not Download the App
Check free storage and your app store sign-in, then restart the device and try again.
The Same Problem Returns
If a fresh install behaves exactly the same, the cause is probably outside the app, such as the network or the device. Our pre-support checklist helps you narrow it down.
The Login Fails After Reinstalling
Re-enter each detail slowly, watching for capital letters, extra spaces and the full Server URL.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will reinstalling affect my subscription?
No. The subscription is not stored in the app. You just sign in again.
Do I lose my favorites?
Often yes, because they are saved inside the app. Make a note of them before you uninstall.
Should I restart the device between uninstalling and reinstalling?
It is a good habit, as it clears anything the old app left in memory.
Can I switch to a different player app instead?
On Android you can choose between IBO Player Pro and TiviMate. Our Apple and Windows instructions rely on IBO Player Pro alone. Seehow to choose a player app.
A Clean Slate
Reinstalling is the most thorough reset you can do yourself. To avoid needing it, keep your app and device updated.
